My 32 Core Windows machine does not like the Computation project but has no problems with the measurement ones. I am receiving a message: Not requesting tasks: don't need (CPU, NVIDIA GPU). Is there anything I can do to get this machine to run the Computation project? |

My 32 Core Windows machine... I don't see any 32 core Windows PC's with no tasks on your account. I see a Linux PC #662 but that is a 64 core with no credit... Last contact 17 Jan 2022, 5:39:39 UTC. Have you tried a Project Reset or Detach/Reattach on this mystery machine? Can you post a link or post the computer number here for this 32 Core Windows PC? |

My 32 Core Windows machine... Probably computer ID 556 and/or ID 547, both 32 core / 64 thread computers with no work. The other ones with lots of work I believe need more memory if all threads are trying to be used at once. So they either fail waiting for memory, take a really long time to run or don't run at all, or a bit of all that. Needing up to 650 MB of peak RAM per WU times 64 or 128 threads equals 42 GB needed for the 64 thread machine and over 83 GB for the 128 thread machines, the machines don't have that amount available. As memory is not cheap, the number of threads being used needs to be reduced that are running work units. A method for doing this was posted in another thread that I don't recall at the moment. P.S. Ah here it is to limit cores in use. But I think Cruncher Pete already knows how to do this. You have some terrific computers there Cruncher Pete (yes I am a fair bit envious to say the least).
